外国人介護留学生の社会関係資本形成初期段階に関する予備的研究

本研究は、外国人介護留学生7名を対象に、来日初期段階における社会関係資本の形成状況についての予備的研究である。日本では、介護人材不足が予測され、外国人介護留学生の受入れが急増しているが、彼らの社会的ネットワーク形成に関する実証研究は限定的である。介護留学生7名を対象に、質問紙調査とインタビューで、日本と母国における社会関係資本をネットワーク、信頼、互酬性規範、資源アクセスの４次元から分析した。結果として、日本での友人形成は多国籍な外国人留学生との交流が中心で、日本人との関係構築は進んでいなかった。信頼は母国の家族に偏重し、互酬性規範では学校・職場の先生への期待が最も高く、専門職への資源アクセスは制限されていた。来日初期の介護留学生は、制度的支援への集中と地域住民としての役割の希薄化という課題に直面しており、学校・教師への信頼を起点として、段階的に地域住民との関係構築へと展開する支援策が必要である。
A Preliminary Study on Social Capital Formation among International Care Worker Students in the Initial Stage

Abstract
This preliminary study examined social capital formation among seven international care worker students during their initial period in Japan. While Japan faces a projected shortage of care workers and has seen a rapid increase in accepting international care worker students, empirical research on their social network formation remains limited. Through questionnaire surveys and interviews with seven care worker students, this study analyzed their social capital in both Japan and their home countries across four dimensions: networks, trust, norms of reciprocity, and resource access.
The findings revealed that friendship formation in Japan centered primarily on interactions with other multinational international students, with limited relationship building with Japanese nationals. Trust remained heavily concentrated on families in their home countries, while expectations under norms of reciprocity were highest toward teachers at schools and workplaces, and access to professional resources was restricted. International care students in the early stages of their arrival in Japan confront dual challenges: over-reliance on institutional support and the diminishment of their role as local community members. Support strategies that leverage established trust in educational institutions and instructors as a foundation for progressively building relationships with local residents are required.
