保育者の「専門性」の構造的把握をめぐる諸問題

本稿の目的は、保育者の専門性に関する議論の現状と、その課題を明らかにすることにある。現在の保育者の専門性論には、保育者の専門性を、具体的に保育者が向き合う複数の職務の場面ごとに専門性を当てはめていく論法、あるいは、ケアという保育者にとっての根源的・核心的な専門性を想定し、そこから保育者の具体的な職務能力が派生すると考える論法の二つの形態が見られる。前者は、複数に分化した専門性の間の関連性が見失われがちであるという欠点、後者は、ケアという心理的・倫理的概念が、保育者の専門性を、個人の人格的な特性や資質といった、訓練可能なスキル以外のものに押し込めてしまう欠点を有している。今後の保育者の専門性論は、これらの欠点の克服、つまり、保育者の専門性諸要素の構造化と、保育者の専門性を訓練可能、伝達可能なスキル・知識の体系として構築することという二つの課題に向き合わなければならない。
Toward a Structural Understanding of the Professionality of Childcarers

Abstract
This paper focuses on discussions on childcarer professionality in Japan and related issues. Since the year 2000, two definitions of childcarer professionality have been presented. In the first version, professionality is characterized by the various situations that childcarers usually face. However, these various definitions adapted to specific situations cannot be integrated into a single definition. In the second version, professionality is derived from “caring,” which is a central idea of the profession. However, this central concept is too abstract, so the question of “what is caring?” should be discussed. In both of these definitions, possible methods of learning professionality are not clarified. For instance, professionality might be attributed to the innate character of the childcarer.
